9.2 Notice period
Notice period for workmen is given as one month as per section 25F of the Industrial Disputes Act (IDA). According to section 25F, the workman must be employed for a minimum of one year and the retrenchment compensation must be paid. Though the reference in the IDA is to workmen, organisations use this as the minimum notice period for their employees.
In case of a specific request from the employee for an early exit before the notice period lapses, a portion of salary is foregone in lieu of the notice period. The contrary is true
