5.3 Foreign employers

5.3     Foreign employers

Foreign employers may commence business in India through any of the following business structures:


    •     LLP


    •     Private Limited or Public Limited companies


    •     Liaison office or a branch office of a foreign company

In such a case, the mandatory statutory registrations referred to in table 1 in 5.1 must be obtained. For liaison and branch offices, the entity registered in India must also furnish the details of the employees with the Commissioner of Police.

Instead of setting-up an organisation in India, foreign employers may:


    •     outsource the employee hiring and compliance process
