V5.315 Unauthorised disclosure of statistical information

A person commits an offence, and is liable to penalties, if—

  1.  

    (1)     he has obtained information by virtue of VATA 1994 s 91 (Disclosure of information for statistical purposes); and

  2.  

    (2)     he discloses it in contravention of that provision1.

A person who has obtained information would appear to be an authorised officer of the Statistics Board (or any Northern Ireland department, or part of the Scottish Administration carrying out similar functions), an officer of a Government department (including a Northern Ireland department), or a member of staff of the Scottish Administration2.
