Many junior in-house lawyers reflect that they don’t get the same support as they received in a law firm. With a need to pick up a whole new set of skills, this can be very isolating.
Mentoring is a great way to help you accelerate your personal and professional development as you start out in your career. Learning from more experienced colleagues is one of the best ways to develop skills and careers.
Our vision is to give more of our Aspire members the opportunity to benefit from mentoring. So, we are collaborating with senior in-house counsel to facilitate a mentoring programme just for you.
Mentors can offer:
- Technical and professional skills, knowledge and understanding
- Improved competence in leadership or management or self-management
- Helpful attitudes and habits
- Awareness of potential and self-limiting beliefs that undermine your potential
- Fantastic networking opportunities
- Support setting personal and career goals and being held to account on your progress
To sign up for our mentoring scheme please complete the short profile form. The information provided will help us to match you based on your level of experience, desired learning outcomes and interests.
Once we are happy we have found a good match we will get in touch with you to let you know about the other person. We will check you are both happy too, and then leave it to you to make contact and arrange your first meeting.
Please note that matching is done monthly and there are a limited number of mentors. Where possible we will endeavour to match all applicants but there may be a short waiting list depending on demand.
