STOP PRESS: On 30 October 2020, HMRC published 11 guidance notes giving further details of eligibility for the Job Support Scheme (JSS) and how to make claims. On 31 October 2020, the government announced that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) is extended from 1 November 2020 and that the JSS will now come into effect when the extended CJRS ends. IMPORTANT NOTE: The Job Support Scheme (JSS) was first announced on 24 September 2020 and is due to open on 1 November 2020 and run for six months until April 2021. The government announced on 9 October 2020 that JSS would be expanded to businesses required to close due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions (JSS Closed, or JSSC), with the government paying two-thirds of employees’ salaries up to a maximum of £2,100 per month.
