UPDATE (15/3/21): The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in the Spring Budget 2021 on 3 March 2021 the extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) for a further five months until 30 September 2021. The level of grant available to employers under the CJRS will remain the same until 30 June 2021. From 1 July 2021, the level of the grant will be reduced and employers will be expected to contribute 10% towards the cost of unworked hours, increasing to 20% in August and September 2021. Further information is set out in the HMRC Policy paper: Changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme from July 2021. See: LNB News 03/03/2021 125. The drafting note to this Precedent has been updated to reflect these changes, and further updates will be made when full details of the CJRS from 1 May 2021 are available.
