Construction analysis: We explore the changes made in the 2016 edition of the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) Intermediate Building Contract (IC), which was published on 7 December 2016. The changes are consistent with those found in the 2016 editions of the JCT Design and Build Contract and Standard Building Contract—simplified payment provisions, performance bond/parent company guarantee requirements, third party rights from sub-contractors, a new insurance option, and changes to bring the contract in line with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
