Article summary

Dispute Resolution analysis: Lord Reed, as President of the Supreme Court and Chairman of the Judicial Committee for the Privy Council, has issued a Practice Notice setting out a scheme for dealing with applications for permission to appeal electronically. The scheme will be introduced from 1 May 2020 and will apply to additional documents filed in support of applications for permission to appeal, and to notices of objection, respondent’s submissions and objections to such applications, which are filed on or after that date. Although it is hoped that in time it will be possible to significantly reduce the number of hard copies of documents that are currently required, the scheme will be introduced as a parallel facility, rather than in substitution for paper. or take a trial to read the full analysis.
