Planning analysis: Following a consultation launched in December 2017, the government has laid before parliament regulations which, once brought into force, specify how new New Town Development Corporations can be overseen by the local authority rather than the Secretary of State, where designated. It is hoped that these new locally-accountable development corporations will help deliver new garden cities or towns.
