Welcome to the weekly Energy highlights from the Lexis®PSLEnvironment team for the week ending 18 May 2017. This week’s highlights includes the latest updates from Ofgem in relation to the latest version of the gas and electricity Network Innovation Competition (NIC) governance documents and a proposed new licence condition to require RIIO network licensees to develop an electricity or gas Network Innovation Strategy, the overturning on appeal by the Scottish Court of Session of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds’ (RSPB) initially successful judicial review of Neart Na Gaoithe (NNG) wind farm’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) consents, the completion of the qualification assessment process for the Contracts for Difference (CfD) round 2, publication of draft amendments to Ofgem’s guidance on the closure of the Renewables Obligation (RO) to onshore wind technologies, a £43m investment boost in low-carbon infrastructure projects across Scotland, the call for the priority dispatch for existing Renewables to be removed in Europe, the publication of the total number of emission trading allowances in circulation by the European Commission for the first time and confirmation by National Grid that the Moorside power line project has been paused.
