- EU companies to see updated 2030, 2040 climate targets in carbon neutrality law
MLex: EU businesses and clean-energy investors may see new EU-wide climate targets for 2030 and 2040 in an upcoming law the European Commission is planning to propose on 4 March 2020, a senior EU official has said. Diederik Samsom, the head of the office for Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, said that the legislation will introduce an obligation on policymakers to introduce ‘new measures’ if the EU falls short of keeping pace with its climate ambitions.
