- Electricity sector highlights UK’s ‘pick and choose’ approach to Brexit talks, Barnier says
MLex: UK Brexit negotiators are seeking to obtain electricity interconnection mechanisms ‘equivalent’ to those on the EU’s internal market, while at the same time failing to engage in detailed talks on concrete, reciprocal guarantees on environmental standards, the EU’s chief negotiator Michel Barnier said in a press conference on 15 May 2020. He cited the issue as an example of a sector where the UK is attempting to ‘pick and choose’ to get only ‘most attractive aspects of the single market’.
