EHRC reports MoD's apology to former soldier for subjection to racist and sexist abuse

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has reported that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued an apology and a substantial financial settlement to former Corporal, who fronted British Army recruitment campaigns. Kerry-Ann Knight's discrimination claim, funded and assisted by EHRC's legal support scheme for race discrimination cases, was taken to an employment tribunal, with the parties settling before the award of a final judgment. MoD's apology and financial settlement does not contain an admission of liability by the British Army. Looking forward, EHRC announced that tackling discrimination, harassment and victimisation in the armed forces will be a strategic priority for 2024-2025.
