- Why is this development important?
Dispute Resolution analysis: The Courts and Tribunals (Online Procedure) Bill has been published and had its first reading in the House of Lords on 1 May 2019. It establishes a new online procedure for civil proceedings and an Online Procedure Rule Committee (OPRC) that will be able to make new Online Procedure Rules. The new procedure will use a mix of technology, conciliation and judicial resolution to provide a simple and quick dispute resolution process. The role of the OPRC will be to provide new, simple online rules which are intelligible to, and easily navigable by, all people who rely on the courts system.
