The practice should have a number of policies in place that address their Will drafting procedures. This Note enables the practice to check off that those essential WIQS policies are in place.

1 TAKING INSTRUCTIONS  
  A practice will be required to have a written policy to help manage the risk in taking instructions addressing:  
  1.1 whether customer due diligence is to be carried out as a matter of course, even though it may not be required under the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 SI 2007/2157  
  1.2 that where the client will require advice on IHT planning carry out due diligence  
  1.3 what steps must be taken to check the identity of clients  
  1.4 whether all instructions must be taken face-to-face or whether there are circumstances where they can be accepted in writing or online
