How do I find out whether a statutory demand or bankruptcy petition has been served on an individual for personal insolvency by a creditor?

Statutory demand

The service of a statutory demand is not recorded as it is not a court document, so unfortunately there is no register to search.

The only way you could find out is if either the debtor or creditor tells you. Further, if the debtor disputes the debt, it could be possible to check with the debtor’s local County Court Hearing Centre to see if an application to set aside the statutory demand has been made.

However, from a practical perspective a number of County Court Hearing Centres may need to be contacted as there is no central register.
