Enforcement powers of authorised officers

Trading Standards officers and the Competition and Mergers Authority are authorised to enforce the provisions of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, SI 2008/1277 (CPUTR 2008).

From 1 October 2015, the enforcement powers under a wide range of consumer protection legislation, including the CPUTR 2008, have been consolidated into a generic set of powers contained in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, Schedule 5 (CRA 2015). This generic set of powers replaces the enforcement powers contained in the CPUTR 2008.
