Brexit impact

11 pm (GMT) on 31 December 2020 marks the end of the Brexit transition/implementation period entered into following the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. At this point in time (referred to in UK law as ‘IP completion day’), key transitional arrangements come to an end and significant changes begin to take effect across the UK’s legal regime. Road Vehicle Carbon Dioxide Emission Performance Standards (Cars and Vans) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020

The Road Vehicle Carbon Dioxide Emission Performance Standards (Cars and Vans) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020, SI 2020/1418 made amendments to Retained Regulation 2019/631 so that emissions reporting is now to the UK Vehicles Certification Agency rather than the European Commission, and manufacturers’ CO2 emissions targets are now based on the GB-wide rather than the EU-wide fleet.

Electric vehicles (sometimes referred to as ultra low emission vehicles or ULEVs) run on electricity some or all of the time.
