Application of IR 2016

Under Rule 3 of the introductory rules to Insolvency (England and Wales) Rules 2016, SI 2016/1024 (IR 2016, SI 2016/1024), IR 2016, SI 2016/1024 applies to companies which the courts in England and Wales have jurisdiction to wind up and IR 2016, SI 2016/1024 extends solely to companies registered in England and Wales.

Under section 117 of the Insolvency Act 1986 (IA 1986) the High Court has jurisdiction to wind up any company registered in England and Wales.
