Extension of the international designs registration regime under the Hague System to include the UK 13 June 2018: UK joined Hague System. Before 13 June 2018, the only way to include the UK in an application for an international design under the Hague System was to designate the EU as a whole. Under section 8 of the Intellectual Property Act 2014, the UK has joined the Hague System meaning applicants can now designate the UK individually.

The government conducted a consultation on the UK's accession to the Hague System which closed on 15 November 2015.
