In December 2015, the Commission published a public consultation on the evaluation and modernisation of the legal framework for the enforcement of IP rights.

The consultation, which was part of the Digital Single Market strategy, looked to help assess the functioning of the Enforcement Directive in the online environment, with a view to identifying the possible need for adapting such provisions and to propose corrective measures.
