Key developments during 2016 included:

  1. Slavery and human trafficking statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015—annual transparency statement was required to be published by certain commercial organisations with a year-end on or after 31 March 2016

  2. People with significant control register (PSC register) under the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 (SBEEA 2015)—requirement to hold a register came into force on 6 April 2016

  3. SBEEA 2015—further provisions entered into force on 30 June 2016, including in relation to confirmation statements

  4. Revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II)—transposition and application of the Directive has been extended by a year to 3 July 2017 and 3 January 2018 respectively
