UPDATE (14/1/21): On Monday 4 January 2021, the Prime Minister announced a third national lockdown, details of which are set out in Cabinet Office guidance: National lockdown: Stay at Home . This followed a joint statement from the UK Chief Medical Officers recommending that the UK COVID-19 alert level move from level 4 to level 5. The lockdown was given legal force by amendments to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (All Tiers) (England) Regulations 2020 (All Tiers Regulations 2020), SI 2020/1374 set out in the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (No 3) and (All Tiers) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2021, SI 2021/8, which came into force on Wednesday 6 January 2021.
