Refund of member contributions definition

What does Refund of member contributions mean?

Since A-day, such refunds will only be automatically given to members who leave a scheme with fewer than three months' pensionable service.

Members with between three months and two years' pensionable service can either opt for a refund of their contributions or a transfer value.
