What does Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting mean?

With effect from 22 April 2014, an applicant for a remedy'>financial remedy must attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) prior to the issue of their application, unless one of the exceptions specified in the Family Procedure Rules 2010 applies.
