Mark Richards

Mark is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster School of Law. He teaches both on the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and The Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Prior to joining the Law School, Mark was a Partner at Hamlin Slowe Solicitors, London W1. Mark is widely published, having co-authored A Practical Approach to Conveyancing (OUP) currently in its 15th edition, A Practical Approach to Commercial Conveyancing and Property (OUP) currently in its 4th edition, the LPC Property Law Handbook (OUP) currently in its 6th edition, and Blackstone's Guide to the Land Registration Act 2002 (OUP). Mark co-authors Divisions I and IP of Butterworths Property Law Service. Mark has been a key contributor to numerous Continuing Professional Development Courses in Property Law. He has been external consultant, tutor and examiner on the Land Registry's Diploma in Land Registration Law and Practice. He has extensive experience of external examining in his specialist areas of legal expertise and other areas of legal practice. Mark is a core member of the Working Party for the National Competency Standards for Paralegals. These are nationally recognised standards of competency for Conveyancing Paralegals, which, in conjunction with the Land Registry and others, he has drafted and which are published by the Institute of Paralegals. As a result of his extensive authorial output, teaching experience and external examining, Mark has established a national reputation in his principal areas of activity namely, Property Law and Practice, Conveyancing and Land Law.
