As noted above, ERA 1996 s 23(1)(a) provides that a worker may present a complaint to the tribunal that his employer 'has made a deduction from his wages in contravention of section 13'. Section 13 defines a deduction as being where the total amount paid to the worker on any occasion is less than the total amount of wages properly payable on that occasion.
