Although the employer cannot insist that notification of incapacity be in the form of medical evidence, an employer may require an employee who claims to be entitled to SSP to provide 'such information as may reasonably be required for the purpose of determining the duration of the period of entitlement in question or whether a period of entitlement exists' (see SSAA 1992 s 14).
