(5)     Conditions of entitlement to SSP

(a)     The qualifying conditions

There are three qualifying conditions if SSP is to be paid in respect of a particular day of sickness absence:

  1.  

    (i)     the day in question must form part of a 'period of incapacity for work' (SSCBA 1992 s 152(1));

  2.  

    (ii)     it must fall within a 'period of entitlement' (SSCBA 1992 s 153(1)); and

  3.  

    (iii)     the day must be a 'qualifying day' (SSCBA 1992 s 154(1)) although, as explained at para [131], SSP is not generally payable for
