(2)     The benchmarks

Set out below are some of the principal benchmarks for each of the eight separate aspects of the recruitment and selection process addressed by the Code. However, the main themes which are common to the benchmarks are:

  1.  

    (i)     the need to ensure that applicants are made aware of how the prospective employer will use the information they provide;

  2.  

    (ii)     that applicants should be warned in advance of any checks carried out in relation to data provided or any plans to use the data for non-recruitment purposes (for example, marketing); and
