(2)     Payment of data protection fee

Under the DPA 2018 employers no longer have to notify the ICO that they are processing personal data (which was required under the DPA 1998), but they are required to pay an annual data protection fee to the ICO, unless the processing carried out is exempt (DPA 2018 s 137; the Data Protection (Charges and Information) Regulations 2018 SI 2018/480).
