(9)     Status or contract?

The question is raised from time to time whether the relationship of employer and employee is truly one of contract or one of status. As with most questions jurisprudential, it depends upon how you define your terms. The relationship is not one of status, in the sense that every individual is free to choose whether or not they will serve another; the relationship is not imposed upon them by law willy-nilly.
