C.     Statutory rules on the employment of children

(1)     Statutory rules

The principal provisions on the employment of children are contained in the (much amended) Children and Young Persons Act 1933 s 18(1). The CYPA 1933 provides that, subject to any byelaws to the contrary, no child may be employed:
