F.     The rights of fixed-term employees

(1)     Generally

The FTE Regs SI 2002/2034 provide that fixed-term employees (as defined) are not to be subjected to less favourable treatment than similar employees in relation to their terms and conditions of employment (SI 2002/2034 reg 3(1)) unless this can be objectively justified (reg 3(3)(b)). This includes a right not to be treated less favourably in relation to service qualifications, training opportunities and the opportunity to secure permanent employment with the employer (reg 3(2)).
