As from 2017 the government has moved to a single budget held in the autumn of each year. Although a spring statement will be released, this will not make significant tax announcements unless economic circumstances require it. Policies will be announced at the budget in the autumn and consulted on in winter and over the spring. Draft legislation will then be published in July for technical consultation ahead of the Finance Bill being introduced in the following autumn. The aim will be for the Finance Bill to reach Royal Assent before the start of the following tax year1.
