For those incorporated businesses that for one reason or another no longer require limited liability and the other benefits incorporation offers, a limited form of disincorporation relief was available between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 20181. This relief allowed a company to transfer certain types of assets to its shareholders who continued to operate the business in an unincorporated form, without the company incurring a corporation tax charge on the disposal of the assets
