The British Olympic Association ('the BOA') is the National Olympic Committee ('the NOC') for the United Kingdom as recognised by the International Olympic Committee ('the IOC'). As the NOC for the United Kingdom, the BOA's mission is to develop, promote and protect the Olympic Movement in the United Kingdom in accordance with the Olympic Charter1 as promulgated by the IOC. The BOA's tasks include the constitution, organisation and leadership of the United Kingdom delegation at the Olympic Games and deciding on the entry of athletes based on the recommendations of the national governing bodies of the sports concerned2.
