The Equality Act 2010 makes it unlawful for a club to discriminate against a member or potential member1. This applies to associations with at least 25 members where admission to membership is regulated by the association's rules and involves a process of selection2. For example, a private golf club which admits both men and women cannot require women to play only at certain times if men can play at all times3. Single sex clubs are still permitted4
