The Secretary of State1 may by regulations require local authorities to establish and operate a database or databases of information about persons to whom child protection arrangements2 may relate3; the Welsh Ministers have similar powers to impose such requirements on children's services authorities in Wales4 in respect of persons to whom such arrangements5 relate6. Until a day to be appointed, statutory Local Safeguarding Children's Boards (LSCBs), whose aim is to ensure that every local area has a coherent and effective approach to safeguarding children based on contributions from all key agencies, are also established for England7 .
