590. Terrorist connection as an aggravating factor.

The following provisions apply where a court in England and Wales and Northern Ireland1 is considering for the purposes of sentence2 the seriousness of one of the following offences3. The provisions also apply where a service court is considering for the purposes of sentence the seriousness of a service offence as respects which the corresponding civil offence is one of the following offences4. The offences are5:

  1.  

    (1)     the common law offences of murder, manslaughter, culpable homicide, kidnapping and abduction6;

  2.  

    (2)     soliciting murder7;

  3.  

    (3)     wounding with intent8;

  4.  

    (4)     maliciously administering poison etc so as to endanger life or inflict grievous
