The offences which are specified for the purposes of the statutory provisions dealing with the sentencing of dangerous offenders1 are divided into 'specified violent offences', 'specified sexual offences' and 'specified terrorism offences'2.
The specified violent offences are:
(1) manslaughter3;
(2) kidnapping4;
(3) false imprisonment5;
(4) soliciting murder6;
(5) threats to kill7;
(6) wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm8;
(7) malicious wounding9;
(8) attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle in order to commit or assist in committing an indictable offence10;
(9) using chloroform, etc, to commit or assist in the committing of any indictable offence11;
