If a defendant1 is committed to the Crown Court2 in respect of an offence or offences with a view to a confiscation order3 being made, the following provisions apply (whether or not the court proceeds under the provisions4 relating to making a confiscation order)5.
In the case of an offence in respect of which the magistrates' court has stated6 that it would have committed the defendant for sentence, the Crown Court must inquire into the circumstances of the case
