558. Sentencing guidelines.

The Sentencing Council for England and Wales1 must prepare sentencing guidelines2 about the discharge of a court's duty3 in connection with reductions in sentences for guilty pleas4 and about the application of any rule of law as to the totality of sentences5. The Council may also prepare sentencing guidelines about any matter6, from time to time review and revise any guidelines it has issued7, and must consider any proposals received from the Lord Chancellor8 or the Court of Appeal9 for the preparation or revision of existing or further guidelines10.
