208. Power to seize property.

An appropriate officer1 may seize any realisable property2 if he has reasonable grounds for suspecting that the property may otherwise be made unavailable for satisfying any confiscation order3 that has been or may be made against the defendant4 or the value of the property may otherwise be diminished as a result of conduct by the defendant or any other person5, provided he is satisfied that:


    (1)     a criminal investigation6 has been started in England and Wales with regard to an indictable offence, a person has been arrested for the offence, proceedings for the offence have not yet been started
