34. Life sentence for offenders aged under 18 where there is a significant risk of serious harm.

Where:

  1.  

    (1)     a person aged under 181 is convicted of a serious offence2 committed on or after 4 April 20053; and

  2.  

    (2)     the court4 is of the opinion that there is a significant risk to members of the public of serious harm occasioned by the commission by him of further serious offences5,

the court must impose a sentence6 of detention for life
