Where a life prisoner1, other than a prisoner falling within heads (1) and (2) below2, is released on licence3, the licence must, unless previously revoked4, remain in force until his death5. However, where a prisoner who6:
(1) is serving one or more preventive sentences7; and
(2) is not serving any other life sentence8,
has been released on licence under Chapter II of Part II of the Crime (Sentences) Act 19979, and where the qualifying period has expired10, the Secretary of State11 must, if directed to do so by the Parole Board12, order that the licence is to cease to have
