The Parole Board continues to be1, by that name, a body corporate2. As such, it is constituted in accordance with Chapter 6 of Part 12 of the Criminal Justice Act 20033, and it has the functions conferred on it4:
(1) in respect of fixed-term prisoners, by or under that Chapter5; and
(2) in respect of life prisoners, by Chapter II of Part II of the Crime (Sentences) Act 19976.
It is the duty of the Board to advise the Secretary of State7 with respect to any matter referred to it by him which is to do with the early release
