27. Commencement of a Crown Court sentence.

A sentence1 imposed, or other order2 made, by the Crown Court when dealing with an offender takes effect from the beginning of the day on which it is imposed, unless the court otherwise directs3. This power to direct, however, has effect subject to the requirement that a court sentencing a person to a term of imprisonment may not order or direct that the term is to commence on the expiry of any other sentence of imprisonment
