The court1 must impose a sentence of imprisonment for life2 where a person aged 18 or over3 is convicted of a 'second listed offence'4 committed after 3 December 20125 and:
(1) the court would otherwise6 impose a sentence of imprisonment for 10 years or more7; and
(2) at the time the offence was committed, the offender had been convicted of a listed offence8 ('the previous offence')9 and a relevant life sentence
