274. The right to liberty and security under the European Convention on Human Rights.

The European Convention on Human Rights provides that everyone has the right to liberty and security of person1. No one shall be deprived of his liberty save in the following cases and in accordance with a procedure prescribed by law:

    (1)     the lawful detention of a person after conviction by a competent court2;
