Where an application is submitted by an individual1 to the European Court of Human Rights2 a single judge may declare it inadmissible, or strike it out of the Court's list of cases, where such a decision can be taken without further examination3. If the single judge does not declare an application inadmissible or strike it out, he must forward it to a committee or to a Chamber for further examination4.
